This piece explores the theme of metamorphosis—the transformation of form, being, or perspective. Over five years developing this collection, the concept has evolved into a reflection on the ways life reshapes us, revealing new growth, resilience, and vitality even through periods of stillness.
Water serves as a central metaphor throughout the series, inspired by literature, poetry, and Scripture. The layered colors and textures are drawn from the ocean—beautiful, powerful, cleansing, healing, and occasionally transformative. At the shoreline, where my phone is tucked away and the world quiets, I experience profound calm. “And the Spirit of God hovered over the water…”
Branches and leaves, recurring motifs in this collection, symbolize rootedness in quiet, nourishing spaces. They embody resilience and life, capable of enduring both gentle rains and harsher storms, reflecting the essence of metamorphosis.
