Artwork Inspiration
This piece explores the theme of awakening—the stirring of life, consciousness, and action from dormancy. Over five years developing this collection, the concept has grown into a meditation on the ways we are renewed, energized, and moved into life even after long periods of stillness or quiet.
Water is a central metaphor throughout the series, inspired by literature, poetry, and Scripture. The layered colors and textures are influenced by the ocean—beautiful, powerful, cleansing, healing, and occasionally transformative. At the shoreline, where distractions fade and my phone is tucked away, I experience profound calm. “And the Spirit of God hovered over the water…”
Branches and leaves, recurring elements in this collection, represent rootedness in nourishing, life-filled spaces. They symbolize resilience, inner strength, and the ability to endure both gentle rains and harsher storms—reflecting the essence of awakening.
