Artwork Inspiration
This piece is rooted in the theme of reformation—a deep replenishing and renewing of the inner life. Over the five years spent developing this collection, the concept has taken on rich meaning: the steady correction, healing, and reshaping that comes after seasons of upheaval, much like nature itself.
Inspired by the ocean’s shifting palette and layered movement, the work embraces water as a powerful metaphor often found in literature, poetry, and Scripture—cleansing, restorative, beautiful, and at times fierce. At the ocean, where distractions fall silent, I feel the quiet presence of peace. “And the Spirit of God hovered over the water…”
Branches and leaves—a recurring symbol in this series—represent being deeply rooted in a nourishing place, strengthened by both gentle rains and harsh storms. Their resilience echoes the ongoing work of reformation: steady, life-giving, and transformative.
